<\/a>How to Get Involved<\/h3>\n

Enrolled 4-H youth have the opportunity to enroll as an Independent 4-H Member, join a traditional 4-H Club, or a 4-H SPIN (SPecial INterest) Club. All enrolled 4-H members\u00a0are eligible to participate in any county, state, and nationwide 4-H events throughout the year.<\/p>\n

4-H Clubs<\/h4>\n

A 4-H club is comprised of youth members, led by an adult, with a planned program that is carried on throughout all or most of the year. 4-H Clubs may meet in any location and typically have elected youth officers and a set of rules approved by the membership to govern the club. 4-H Clubs can focus on any topic ranging from raising animals to building robots and everything in between.

Special Interest\/Short-Term Programs<\/h4>\n

The 4-H SPIN Club is a\u00a0club where four or more young people ages 9-18 gather with a volunteer and, for at least six sessions, learn about a selected topic of interest. Topics vary according to the volunteer\u2019s expertise, and can include the natural world, heritage arts, science and technology, photography, music, gardening, shooting sports, and more.<\/p>\n

Independent<\/h4>\n

Independent 4-H members typically work on a 4-H project at home, at school, or after school. They are mentored by parents, teachers, and\/or a 4-H Volunteer. This option offers flexibility and independence since youth are not required to meet in a club setting.<\/p>\n

Independent membership is a great choice for youth who do not have the option to join a club (due to distance, interest, etc).<\/p>\n

Camp and Learning Centers<\/h4>\n

There are four 4-H Camp & Learning Centers in Maine: Bryant Pond<\/a>, Tanglewood<\/a>, Blueberry Cove,<\/a> and Greenland Point<\/a>. Scholarships<\/a> are offered to enrolled Penobscot County 4-H youth to attend camp in the summer. However, you do not need to be enrolled in 4-H to attend camp.<\/p>\n

Volunteer<\/h4>\n

If you are an adult who is interested in sharing your passion for a topic or skill, consider volunteering with 4-H! Volunteer opportunities<\/a> are designed to work with your schedule.<\/p>\n
