Job Posting: 4-H Youth Development Professional – Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension invites applications for a full-time, fiscal-year 4-H Youth Development Professional to begin work June 1, 2019, and work out of the UMaine Extension Penobscot County Office in Bangor, Maine. This position will provide educational leadership for 4-H Youth Development in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties.  4-H is a non-formal, experiential education program for youth, and adults working with those youth, to develop life skills necessary to be self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. The selected candidate will work with 4-H volunteers and the 4-H Leaders Associations to foster an open, educational environment to promote the learning and growth of 4-H youth, and develop and provide educational programs and resources that address the needs of youth in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties in partnership with other Extension staff in the region to create a multidisciplinary approach to youth development. A priority will be to strengthen the 4-H programs in Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties through a traditional club, after school, and community engagement with an emphasis on strengthening the 4-H Science programs.  The typical hiring range for this position is $35,000 to $40,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
