Getting Started With Sheep and Goats

9 – 9:15, Welcome and registration
9:15 – 10, Introduction to small ruminants (uses, housing, best management  practices)
10 – 10:30, Introduction to parasites and grazing
10:30, Break
10:45 – 12,  Animal handling (haltering, behavior, FAMACHA scoring, body condition scoring, hoof trimming)

Are you new to sheep and goats? This workshop will go over the best practices for getting started with small ruminants, including a hands-on portion with animals. Topics will include uses, selection process, farm preparation, basic care, diseases and parasites, haltering, body condition scoring, and hoof trimming.
