If the person is recognizable, a signed release is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Do\u00a0not\u00a0rely on a verbal okay to use a photo, particularly if the picture is of a child. Get\u00a0written permission from the child\u2019s legal guardian.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the University of Maine\u2019s release form or, if the photos are 4-H related, UMaine Extension\u2019s 4-H release form. Both forms are available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/plugged-in\/forms-templates-tools\/forms\/release\/\">Release (Photo, etc.) Forms<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The most convenient time to get a release signed is when participants sign up for an event or program before any pictures are taken. Make it a practice.
