UMaine and UMS Information on Coronavirus<\/h3>\n

Cooperative Extension is following guidance and policy issued by UMaine and the University of Maine System.<\/p>\n

Q: If I test positive outside of the UMaine testing system what do I need to do?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A:<\/strong> Complete and submit the COVID-19 self-reporting form<\/strong> (UMaine<\/a>).<\/p>\n

And then follow the guidance outlined in the COVID-19 Isolation Flow Chart<\/strong> (PDF)<\/a> developed by Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC). \u2014 March 17, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n

Q: What if I am a close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: Follow the guidance outlined in the COVID-19 Quarantine Flow Chart<\/strong> (PDF)<\/a> created by the Maine CDC. \u2014 February 9, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n

Q. What if after an in-person program I coordinate\/present I hear from a participant within two days after the program that they have tested positive what should I do as it relates to notifying other participants?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: You could send an email to participants from the program letting them know that a participant from the program has tested positive and there is a potential that others may have been exposed.<\/p>\n

As a precaution, we recommend that everyone test and follow up with the results accordingly. If you hear from a participant and it is more than two days from the date of the program that they tested positive then no follow-up is needed.<\/p>\n

Q. I will be traveling with youth out of state. What is UMaine Extension requiring?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: We are requiring that all participants have a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the date of travel. And proof of that negative test must be shared with the person organizing the trip. If families need access to COVID tests it is possible to get them a rapid test and\/or you can work with them to do one of the UMaine Vault tests. We are also recommending that staff\/volunteer chaperones for the trip have a few extra rapid tests to take with them for the trip.<\/p>\n

Q. How can I get rapid tests to be available for program participants if needed?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: If someone needs rapid tests please contact Angela Hart<\/strong> at 207.581.2811 or angela.hart@maine.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Q: Do the rapid tests need to be observed when administering?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: No, the rapid tests do not need to be observed.<\/p>\n

Q: Are Vault tests still available and if so how do I get some?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A: Yes. Vault tests are still available and they can be requested from Fran Sulinski<\/strong>, fran.sulinski@maine.edu<\/a>. The Vault test is a PCR test and is the best test for screening an asymptomatic person. If possible, request that participants arrive with a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to the start of a program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
