These mixes are healthier and less expensive than the packaged convenience mixes you buy in the store, and allow you to control the amount of fat, sodium, sugar, and additives in your foods without sacrificing the convenience of a mix. Add 1 packet of mix to 1 cup brown rice, 2 1\/2 cups water. Bring water, rice, and seasoning to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 50 minutes or until the water is absorbed. 1 cup of uncooked brown rice makes about 3 cups of cooked rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To use white rice instead of brown rice, reduce the water to 2 cups and reduce the cooking time to 20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a id=\"Curry Mix\"><\/a>Curry Mix<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix 1\/2 cup instant onion, 3 tablespoons curry powder, 3 tablespoons low-sodium chicken bouillon granules, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1\/2 teaspoon ground turmeric. Place in container. Store in a container. Cayenne pepper can be added for the hot taste and the red color. To make a milder recipe and still maintain the color, try blending some cayenne pepper and paprika. Add both cumin and chili powder to onion when it is being saut\u00e9ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Italian Flavoring:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Combine 6 tablespoons basil, 2 tablespoons oregano, 1 tablespoon thyme and keep the package in a dry container.
