Activities selected if appropriate.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Group check-in.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Review Homework from S2.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3698d4\">\u21d2<\/span> Activity: Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What jobs does each person do?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How does staff know who to go to for what? Where\/how is this communicated? (Employee manual, orientation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs))<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which jobs are wonderful? Which ones are slogs?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to minimize slogs and plan for more wonderful?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which do you like to do alone? Together?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there seasonal shifts (ie: from transplanting &amp; planting to harvest)? How do these change\/impact daily and seasonal schedules?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3698d4\">\u21d2<\/span> Activity: Identify and\/or develop a few SOPs <\/strong>(e.g. hiring, farm stand management, cleanliness, vegetable processing, crew meetings, microgreen production)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3698d4\">\u21d2<\/span> Activity: A ranking tool to assess and evaluate opportunities\/choices\/changes <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3698d4\">\u21d2<\/span> Activity: Plan a Team Building Meeting for\/with farm crew<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What are the goals of the meeting?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have each crew member do a SWOC and share with group?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan for crew meetings through the busy season.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do crew members need role clarification?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does a particular area of the farm need a whole crew troubleshooting session?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there policies that need refining, discussion, development?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the crew need help with disagreements, grievances?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Craft an agenda and materials list based on the findings from the above questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ncfreshproducesafety.ces.ncsu.edu\/%20ncfreshproducesafety-gaps-standard-operating-procedures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SOP article from North Carolina State Extension<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3698d4\">\u21d2<\/span> Activity: Craft a Communication Plan.<\/strong> (This may be saved for S4 or done at S3 with an amount of time for implementation prior to S4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Communication Plan might serve the farm team in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prioritizing tasks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Making financial decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning off-farm work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning for childcare<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brainstorm the following parts of a Communication Plan:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What (meetings for prioritizing, meetings with financial focus, staff\/management meetings, personal needs like fitness, reading, family time, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where (on-farm, over dinner out, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who (Managers? Family? Crew?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When (Daily, weekly, monthly, annually)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How (Email reminders? Farm calendar as a communication tool?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Homework:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any from S1 and\/or S2 that are applicable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write up a division of labor SOP for staff so everyone knows:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their job description, expectations and \u201cchain of command\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which manager\/farmer is responsible for which tasks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to communicate about that subject (email, text, in person, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact specific support people\/organizations (Small Business Development Center, Insurance company, lawyer, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Closing: Self-evaluation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coaches model answering the question \u201cHow did I do?\u201d Expressing appreciation and correcting any gaffs, oversights, unintentional harms, etc., that may have occurred.
