Cooking Matters for Parents, Washington County – January 2020

Cooking Matters for Parents is designed for parents and guardians.  Participants will learn how to prepare healthy low-cost dishes and snacks and will receive ingredients to prepare a recipe at home.

Program Description

Cooking Matter logo

Cooking Matters offers hands-on lessons covering meal preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting, and nutrition. Participants practice basic food skills, such as reading ingredient labels and making a healthy meal on a budget.

In Cooking Matters for Parents you will learn to:

  • Prepare and plan healthy meals
  • Use proper knife techniques
  • Save money at the grocery store
  • Keep food safe to eat
  • Be more active

Participants will receive a cookbook upon completion of the course.

This program is a collaboration between the Washington County CAN Prevention Council and DownEast Recovery and Support Center.
