Program Description

Apiary Management is geared towards beekeepers with a minimum of two years of experience.

The focus of this class is on how to effectively manage a sideline/hobby apiary under Maine conditions. It will include how to keep your colonies healthy and thriving, and how to meet the goals you have with your bees such as swarm prevention, honey production, colony health maximization. This intermediate-level class is focused on IPM strategies for keeping healthy colonies utilizing the honey bees’ own natural cycles as a guide. The Apiary Management course consists of 4 sessions and will be taught by Eastern Apiculture Society (EAS) Certified Master Beekeeper, Erin MacGregor-Forbes. The fee covers the cost of the textbook and the beekeeper’s reference notebook.

“Honey Bee Diseases & Pests”, Third Edition, Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists (CAPA) ISBN 9780969333616

The course fee is $150. You may receive the textbook from us via scheduled pickup at our office in Falmouth at no additional cost, or choose delivery by mail from us for an additional $15 shipping fee.  If you prefer, order directly from the publishers ( Honey Bee Biology and Beekeeping, Wicwas Press, Honey Bee Diseases and Pests, CAPA) or from the seller of your choice and receive a $70 discount on the price of the course-pay just $80 for the course.
