Program Description

UMaine Extension and the Maine Board of Pesticides Control are pleased to offer a free browntail moth (Category 3A) webinar Tuesday, October 13th and Wednesday, October 14th.

Browntail moth infestations have spread up and down much of Maine’s coast, and increasingly to inland areas. Feeding caterpillars defoliate trees and shed toxic hairs that can cause severe irritation of the skin, eyes, and sometimes airways. This webinar will cover browntail moth life-cycle, ecology, history and spread, defoliation surveys, and management.
