Join the University of Maine Cooperative Extension food preservation staff for a lively discussion and demonstration on how to preserve Maine foods throughout our growing season.

$5 suggested donation per class.

Registration is required – Participants will receive the Zoom information after registering for this event.

October 6 – Winter Storage

  • Demonstrate how to extend produce through simple techniques
  • Explain how to use your home climate for successful storage
  • Discuss winter storage “dos and don’ts”
  • Answer your questions

October 13 – Storing Maine Grains and Repackaging Bulk Items

  • Discuss Maine-grown grains
  • Demonstrate how to extend the shelf life of dry goods
  • Explain how to repackage bulk goods safely
  • Answer your questions

October 20 – Pressure Canning Meats

  • Demonstrate how to can meat in a pressure canner
  • Discuss canning meat “dos and don’ts”
  • Answer your questions

October 27 – Preserving Cranberries

  • Demonstrate how to freeze cranberries
  • Discuss how to use frozen cranberries
  • Answer your questions
