Join the University of Maine Cooperative Extension food preservation staff for a lively discussion and demonstration on how to preserve Maine foods throughout our growing season.

$5 suggested donation per class.

Registration is required – Participants will receive the Zoom information after registering for this event.

  • Demonstrate how to make applesauce
  • Explain storage techniques
  • Answer your questions

September 15 – Pressure Canning Soups/Stocks

  • Demonstrate how to can soups and stocks in a pressure canner
  • Discuss canning stock “dos and don’ts”
  • Answer your questions

September 22 – Fermenting Vegetables

  • Demonstrate fermenting sauerkraut
  • Explain the science of fermentation
  • Discuss steps to success
  • Answer your questions

September 29 – Dehydrating Fruits and Vegetables

  • Demonstrate how to dehydrate fruits and vegetables
  • Discuss uses for dehydrated foods
  • Answer your questions
