The Tanglewood forest in Lincolnville is a part of the\u00a0Camden Hills State Park,<\/a> featuring over 7 miles of beautiful trails. The park, encompassing over 800 acres of rolling mixed forest, is a pleasure to visit throughout the seasons and from the springtime blossoms to the fall leaves, there is always plenty to explore.<\/p>\n

Tanglewood’s trails are suitable for\u00a0foot-traffic only<\/em> and remain open year-round for hiking or skiing. Please be aware that while we do our best to keep trails clear, none are patrolled or groomed.<\/p>\n

During the months of April though October we ask that visitors refrain from entering the camp village area where our programs take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Planning your visit<\/h3>\n

The majority of trails are rustic forest trails, with some roots and rocks to avoid and several trails include steep inclines, which are marked on trail maps. Bridges are provided over streams and in areas which regularly accumulate water.<\/p>\n

The TREES trail provides a more accessible trail, with a large portion graveled and seating provided at short intervals throughout. Passing though the Yankee Woodlot demonstration forest the trail passes a wide variety flora. Composting restrooms are available by the trail-head for the TREES trail.<\/p>\n

There are no public sources of drinking water available, so remember to bring a water bottle.<\/p>\n

Please note that some areas of Tanglewood are open to hunting during Maine’s hunting seasons.<\/p>\n

Getting here<\/h4>\n

Tanglewood lies approximately 3 miles inland from Lincolnville Beach on US Route 1.\u00a0Full directions<\/a>. Please consider car-pooling when possible!<\/p>\n
