Would you like to develop expertise in this area? Consider becoming a Master Food Preserver.<\/p>\n<h3>What We Do:<\/h3>\n<p>Master Food Preservers serve to extend University of Maine Extension\u2019s educational programs in food preservation to adults and youth. The Master Food Preserver serves as a volunteer opportunity and a resource in the community to provide the public with research-based information on food preservation from UMaine Extension and USDA.<\/p>\n<h3>Where We Are Located:<\/h3>\n<p>The Master Food Preserver training takes place in various Cumberland county locations, however volunteer work and projects can be completed state-wide once training is complete.<\/p>\n<h3>Volunteer Experiences Can Include:<\/h3>\n<p>After completing your training, you will have an opportunity to choose your volunteer experiences. The 20-hour commitment can be fulfilled by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping others to learn, and provide research-based information from UMaine Extension.<\/li>\n<li>Providing information at local farmers\u2019 markets, fairs, or community events.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting presentations and workshops as part of a team or on your own for community groups and schools.<\/li>\n<li>Preparing educational displays, writing articles for newsletters, newspapers, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To learn more, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/food-health\/food-preservation\/master-food-preservers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Master Food Preservers<\/strong><\/a> and view the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/volunteer\/master-food-preservers\/role-description\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Master Food Preserver Volunteer Role Description<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Apply:<\/h3>\n<p>Through an application process, any Maine resident 21 years or older is eligible to take the Master Food Preserver course.
