Even though we are not able to gather for our traditional Rural Living Day this year\, the Waldo County Extension Association is pleased to offer this opportunity to come together on Zoom. \n3:00–4:30 pm: Grandmother’s Gift – Skomon (corn)\nShiwa Noh\, from Nibezun\, will speak about what it means to plant the original Wabanaki varieties of corn to connect to the ancestors\, to bring healing through the ceremonies\, to bring sovereignty\, and rediscover the ancestral way of preparing the corn. \n5:00–6:30 pm: Browntail Moth and its Impacts in Maine\nTom Schmeelk\, from the Department of Agriculture\, Conservation and Forestry will speak on about the Browntail Moth and its impacts in Maine including its history in Maine\, biology\, the current situation\, management and mitigation strategies. DESCRIPTION:The 4-H Aquarium Club is open to youth ages 5-18 who are interested in being members of a community of youth aquarium hobbyists! This group is for Maine youth who already have an aquarium hobby\, or who are looking to start one\, to come together to talk about their love for fish and aquaria. The club is led by aquaculture experts Dr. Scarlett Tudor from UMaine’s Aquaculture Research Institute\, and Melissa Malmstedt from the UMaine Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research (CCAR). Meetings take place approximately once per month\, starting in November 2020.
