4-H Winter Series SPIN Club

Our second season of the 4-H Winter Series SPIN Club has wrapped up this month! This year’s theme worked on various aspects of 4-H learning areas such as STEM building projects, a community service project for local animal shelters and planting healthy foods! Thank you to the youth who participated across Washington County.

We will be looking for a new theme and a volunteer to run next the Winter Series for Winter 2022/2023. Let me know if you are interested or know of someone who might be interested. Training and program content support available!

A Year in Nature 4-H SPIN Club

After cancelling due to snow storms, we were able to get outside for our February in person meeting! It was a beautiful, 48 degree and snow covered day at Vining Lake Community Preserve. Club members enjoyed ice skating, ice fishing, snow sculptures and many more activities at Downeast Day on the Ice hosted by Downeast Coastal Conservancy (DCC) and Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT). We held our club meeting after which we made Clover shaped bird feeders, chatted about collecting bird observations and a short nature hike. Youth made observations about how the hike looked different from the November hike. Huge thank you to DCC and DLLT for their efforts in planning such a great community event!
