Registration Required

Results of a Maine college student food and housing insecurity research analysis will be the primary focus of a live-streamed Maine Hunger Dialogue webinar on October 23, 2020, from 10:00 – Noon. In addition, speakers will address best practices for campuses addressing student food insecurity during Covid-19 and beyond; food preservation practices; a photo collage on the importance of food for community/cultural/social survival; and the announcement of a $500 Grants focused on campus food insecurity eligible to Maine college students and staff, who participate in the webinar.

The first Maine Hunger Dialogue was held at the University of Maine in Orono in 2014. Since then more than 400 Maine college students, faculty, and staff have come together to learn about food insecurity in Maine and across the country and global community. Through generous sponsorship of our grant program, we have funded 51 $500 grants to help students address action-oriented programs and projects back on their home campuses. In 2019 Maine hosted the Universities Fighting World Hunger Summit attended by over 500 students, faculty, and staff from throughout the world. This year we are back in a webinar format, and will focus on the important issue of Maine college student food and housing insecurity and how it impacts a student’s ability to succeed and stay in school.

The Maine Hunger Dialogue will also be live-streamed on YouTube and will be recorded for those who can not participate live.
