SUMMARY:4-H Science Friday-Washington Academy Garden
DESCRIPTION:4-H Science Friday is going on the road! We will be meeting at the Washington Academy Garden to learn about the decade-long initiative of growing food for our community. Youth will tour the garden\, help harvest\, and learn about plant care.\n \nEngage in science\, technology\, engineering\, art and math (STEAM) topics and skills with 4-H staff and volunteers throughout the 2026 year! Targeted for youth ages 9-14\, this program allows youth to explore a variety of STEAM projects through hands-on activities that build curiosity\, confidence and a growth mindset. \nEach month 4-H Science Fridays will have a specific theme. We will meet for an hour and a half\, 3-4:30pm\, at the University of Maine at Machias. The program is free\, registration is encouraged\, as the maximum number of participants is 12. \nRegister for 4-H Science Friday! \n

SUMMARY:Washington County Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Washington County Fair is just around the corner\, and it is time for local youth to shine. Taking place on August 29 and 30\, 2026\, at the Pembroke Fair Grounds\, this year’s fair invites all Washington County youth between the ages of 5 and 18 to participate\, create\, and showcase their hard work. \nThis year’s featured event is the “Harvesting Possibilities” 4-H Exhibit. Whether you are a lifelong 4-H member or completely new to the program\, this is your chance to share your projects with the community. \nHow to Participate & Register\nThe “Harvesting Possibilities” Exhibit is open to all enrolled Washington County 4-H members. Not a member yet? No problem! You can easily enroll in 4-H at the same time you register your exhibit. \nTo ensure your spot in the exhibition hall\, please keep these key dates and rules in mind: \nPre-Registration Deadline: You must notify the Extension office of your intent to enter by Friday\, August 21\, 2026. You can sign up using the online registration form\, by calling 207.255.3345\, or by emailing extension.washington@maine.edu. \nEntry Limits: Each 4-H youth can submit a maximum of five entries. \nProject Timeline: All exhibits must have been produced or prepared by the member during the current 4-H year (October 2025 – September 2026). While 4-H clubs are welcome to collaborate on projects\, individual members must produce their own entries for the individual exhibits. \nExhibit Cards: Every entry must have a completed exhibit card attached.
