<\/a>2019 Washington County 4-H Photo Contest<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Congratulations to all the 4-H photographers who entered the Washington County 4-H Photo Contest this year.  Your photos were all wonderful; all 45 of them!  The photos will be on display at the Porter Memorial Library in Machias through the month of October.  Photos, ribbons and those who received monetary awards will be able to pick them up in November. <\/div>\n

<\/a>Cobscook Currents 4-H Club<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Cobscook Currents 4-H Club decided upon a name; welcomed a new Cloverbud member; created thank-you cards for Sandy Copel Parsons and completed entries for the Washington County 4-H Photo Contest at their September meeting.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign Starting Soon<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Paper Clover Campaign begins this week at the Tractor Supply store in Calais!  Please let the office know as soon as possible if you would like to sign up to volunteer at the 4-H table at the store.<\/strong>  This event runs through October 20th.<\/p>\n

Each spring and fall, Tractor Supply helps raise money for 4\u2011H programs through the sale of Paper Clovers in their stores. In the most recent campaign, we raised more than $1 million nationwide. 90% of funds raised go back to state and local 4\u2011H programs to support scholarships for camp and leadership activities.<\/p>\n

This year, the top 10 states who show the greatest percentage increase in funds will earn a $2000 bonus for their state! Please help us spread the word!<\/p>\n

<\/a>Re-enrollment 2019-2020 <\/b><\/h3>\n
Another 4-H year began on October 1! Re-enrollment packets will be mailed soon. All paperwork must be returned to the Extension Office by Wednesday, November 27th in order to be processed before the state deadline on December 31.  Absolutely no exceptions will be allowed after that date.<\/div>\n

2020 Maine 4-H Intent to Sell a Market Beef Project at Fryeburg Fair
\n<\/strong>4-Hers raising a steer for the 2020 market steer show at Fryeburg Fair need to send in an Intent to Participate Form available at: https:\/\/extension.umaine.edu\/4h\/youth\/4-h-projects\/animal-science-resources\/beef\/<\/a> by November 1, 2019<\/strong>. The intent form will advise the State 4-H Office which steers need to be tagged. Once we receive your intent form you will be contacted by a staff person from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry to make an appointment for someone to come to your barn and tag your project animal.
\nAs always Fryeburg Market Steers must be owned and in possession by the 4-Her by January 1. But we understand that many of you will have your market steers before January 1st<\/sup> so we are hoping to tag more of the project animals before the winter travel becomes more difficult. We are grateful for the staff from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry for helping us with the tagging and we are hoping the earlier intent form date will allow for safer travel during the winter months. You can also enroll or re-enroll as a 4-H member when you send your Intent to Participate form to your county office. We appreciate you completing this form as early as possible and are encouraging everyone to help spread the word about the new earlier date for the intent form.
