York<\/strong> County<\/strong> Extension Homemakers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Extension Homemakers is a volunteer group<\/strong> that has the goal of developing leadership, supporting worthy community causes, and promoting University of Maine Cooperative Extension\u2019s educational programs in York County. The purpose of this group remains tied to strengthening and extending adult education into the home and community.<\/p>\n

Extension Homemaker group members<\/strong> help to extend the resources<\/strong> of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension into their communities through educational opportunities and service projects. Members generally meet several times throughout the year [often monthly], participate in educational programs, and identify community projects they want to support.<\/p>\n

As local members<\/strong>, Extension Homemakers in York County either belong to a local community group or are members-at-large within their communities.\u00a0 Local groups<\/strong> are involved in assisting with many different community projects<\/strong> such as local food pantries, elderly or veterans groups, scholarships for high school students, and much more.\u00a0 In addition, all members<\/strong> have the opportunity to learn<\/strong> with others, make friends<\/strong>, and contribute to their community and county<\/strong>.\u00a0 They gain<\/strong> leadership skills <\/strong>and are able to share interests and talents<\/strong> with others.<\/p>\n

Local members come together to form a county group<\/strong> led by the York County Extension Homemakers<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Homemakers operates according to a set of bylaws<\/strong><\/a>, has officers<\/strong>, and meets<\/strong> three times a year.\u00a0 They coordinate a spring, summer, and fall meeting<\/strong> for the membership, work in cooperation with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension to offer public educational programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

York County Extension Homemaker membership is open to anyone<\/strong> who is interested in learning<\/strong> new information to improve their personal, family, and community life or who is interested in<\/strong> educating and serving<\/strong> members of the Extension Homemakers groups and the communities.\u00a0 For more information, contact the York County Extension Office.<\/p>\n
