Meg Begley-Irish is the program coordinator for the Lafayette and Rawcliffe 4-H Science and Engineering Learning Center. Some of her role includes providing 4-H STEAM opportunities for Maine youth, teaching and mentorship opportunities for undergraduates, and connection to researchers and staff on UMaine-Orono campus.

Since 2010, Meg has been an outdoor educator and enjoys working with all ages: PK-12, college, and adult. She’s worked in formal and informal settings, but specializes in “messy” science. Much of her career has focused on field science and she has traveled throughout the U.S. working for a variety of organizations: Downeast Institute, Shoals Marine Laboratory, Alaska SeaLife Center, Alaskan Observers, HISD Outdoor Education Center, Newfound Harbor Marine Institute, Acadia Institute of Oceanography, Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, RSU #34, Maine Ocean School, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gulf of Maine Lobster Foundation, and MOOSE.
