Stephanie is the assistant diagnostician in the Plant Disease Diagnostic Lab, which is currently serving as the interim Regional Center for the Northeast National Plant Diagnostic Network. The PDDL identifies diseases present on samples submitted and provides a management plan in the form of a diagnostic report to homeowners, farmers, the lawn care industry, and nurseries to Maine residents and beyond. Through this service, the lab is able to identify areas where research in plant pathology is needed. Stephanie is also tasked with identifying particular diseases that would benefit from the implementation of molecular diagnostic methods to increase diagnostic efficiency with the goal of providing early and accurate disease identification.
