Scavenger Hunt: Are You Up to the Challenge?
If you’re registered for the conference, and you signed up for the Goosechase, you will be pre-assigned to a team! Watch your email for your Goosechase Team information the week of April 14, 2025! This email will give your team name, passcode and the members on your team.
Timeline to Complete?
Missions will go “live” at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, and will close at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Winners of the scavenger hunt will be announced, and prizes will be awarded at the Conference Wrap Up Event on Wednesday, April 23 at 4:45 p.m.
There will be 35 Missions to complete, at varying point levels from 100 to 1,000 points. These Missions can be completed by either typing in an answer or taking and uploading a photo or video.
There’ll Be Prizes?
Prizes will be awarded to individuals of the team who accumulate the most points from Missions completed. In the case of a tie between teams, a team will be drawn to determine the winner.
Any Other Questions?
Be sure to look for an email with further instructions and team details in your inbox the week of April 14, 2025. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact Jen Lobley at jennifer.lobley@maine.edu.
Good Luck on the Goosechase!
What is Goosechase?

Goosechase is a versatile platform that allows conference attendees to participate in digital scavenger hunts using smartphones. It’s interactive and gamified nature makes it an excellent tool for participant engagement and educational purposes.
The Goosechase app is free for team members to use and can be downloaded through your smartphone (instructions will be sent to team participants the week before the conference). We are in the process of creating a digital scavenger hunt that we hope will be engaging, educational and fun!
What are “Missions”?
The missions are part of the hunt – they will be set in two forms: you’ll either be completing missions by typing in text or by taking and uploading a photo or video.
The locations will be local and/or historical (to the Portland, ME area) – and yes, some missions may require getting out for a walk and getting some fresh Maine air!
The missions are set to encourage teamwork, so dig deep, have fun, take risks, be adventurous and, ultimately, discover (or re-discover) a little bit about the NECV conference, your colleagues, and Maine!
I Don’t Have a Phone. Can I Still Participate?
You won’t necessarily need a smartphone to play. You’ll be placed within a team so if you work together with your team members on missions, you’ll have the same opportunity to win a prize if your team scores the most points.
