OPENING SAFELY – Guidelines and Procedures for Summer 4-H/YWS Event

Eastern States Exposition, along with public health officials, strives to present a clean, safe environment and to communicate with guests the changes to expect to experience this 2021 summer 4-H/YWS Event. Arrival:

All animals and participants should arrive during their activities check in time.  Schedules are available in the activity packets.    All animals must have a CVI (health papers) and will be verified and inspected for health on their arrival.  See https://www.mass.gov/doc/agricultural-fairs-animal-health-rules/download

Camping:

The Moses 4-H Dormitory will not be open this year.  Camping is available for parents and committee members on the grounds of ESE.  Camping (RV or tent) is charged $15 a day and payable via credit card or cash at the gate as you enter the grounds.   Camping is available on a first come, first served basis.

There will be plenty of spots available for your RV’s near the Mallary complex or in the horse show area.  You will be directed by the gate personnel where to go.

All those wishing to camp with tents – (We will have WBYoung open across from the Mallary complex and cordoned off for family groups.  Bathrooms will be available in WB Young. Shower and bathrooms will be open in Mallary.  All showers in the visitor’s center at Gate 1 will open for Horse Show camping area as well.

Feed Store:

The ESE Feed Store will be available during the event for your needs.  ESE will provide the bedding necessary for your show.  All contestants should plan on bring their own feed and hay for this event.  Call 413- 205-5307 or email FStore@thebige.com to pre-order your supplies.

Food:   After many years of dedicated service, the church ladies and gentlemen notified ESE this week they will no longer be running the Moses cafeteria.  They were a tremendous asset to our program and will be missed.  There will be a food stand in the Coliseum and one open down in Mallary.  ESE will not be paying for 4-H meals, all participants are responsible for their own food.

Night people:  Each state may have one night person stay in the barn.  We will be stalling states by aisles.

Chaperones:  Each state is responsible for delineating how it will handle availability of chaperones.  Parents/guardians are responsible for their children unless their respective state program offers other accommodations.
