Brett Johnson is Extension sustainable agriculture educator for Waldo, Knox, and Lincoln Counties. His research and educational programming are broadly concerned with the economic and environmental sustainability of farm businesses in Maine. In partnership with the regions commercial farm producers, Brett coordinates the Midcoast Sustainable Agriculture Program, which provides education, demonstration, and consultation on a broad range of natural resource related topics. Brett collaborates with a network of University of Maine specialists, producer associations, and the Maine Farmer Resource Network to deliver farm business management training and support to Maine producers. As a statewide educator, Brett directs research and extension programs to introduce Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to Maine’s Christmas tree and wreath producers and identify market opportunities for Maine-grown specialty potato products.
