Jonathan Foster serves as a statewide horticulturist-at-large for the Cooperative Extension, answering questions and providing guidance through the online “Ask the Expert” portal and our county offices about horticulture, gardening, lawn, plant pest and disease, and landscape issues. This work involves not only translating evidence-based research into practical advice for our clients, but also encouraging sustainable gardening practices and promoting the cultivation of native plants to preserve the traditional Maine landscape, one of our most important natural resources. Jonathan was previously involved with training Penobscot County Master Gardener Volunteers and managing the Rogers Farm Master Gardener Volunteer Demonstration Garden.
