Dr. Rachel White is a Sustainable Agriculture and Livestock Educator based out of Hancock county. Her objectives include education, research, and programming about agriculture in Washington and Hancock counties and with small ruminants, poultry, and equines across the state. She obtained her PhD from the University of Maine, with research focused on risk of parasite transmission from wildlife to small ruminants, risk reduction methods as well as social science examining farmer and veterinarian knowledge, attitude, and practice for livestock health management and the challenges they encounter with this topic. Dr. White includes a One Health framework into her programming to address human-animal-environmental health challenges in Maine’s agricultural community. Additionally, she works with producers across the state on developing animal health and general management practices and grazing strategies.

Dr. White’s regular public programming includes Maine Sheep Shearing School, Sheep & Goat School, Parasite Management & FAMACHA Certification, and Virtual Equine Speaker Series. She is also involved with the Tractor Safety program.
