The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Aroostook County will be giving away cherry tomato seedlings as part of the One Tomato Project.™  On Friday, June 3rd at UMFK, 34 Armory Rd., Fort Kent and the Houlton Higher Education Center, 18 Military St., Houlton. On Saturday, June 4th, from 9:00am-12:00pm everyone is invited to come to the Aroostook Centre Mall parking lot to pick up their tomato plant and a growing guide.   This drive-through event will be hosted by Extension Homemakers, Aroostook 4-Hers, and members of the UMaine Extension staff.

This is a wonderful opportunity to try your hand at growing your own vegetables! Extension Homemakers is a volunteer group that develops leadership skills, supports community causes, and promotes Extension’s educational programs. Homemakers will be available to answer questions about planting and caring for your tomato seedling.   4‑H is America’s largest youth development organization, where kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.

We appreciate the generous donation of seedlings and supplies by the Aroostook County Extension Association and the King’s Gardener. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Emily Dow at 207.532.6548 or emily.dow@maine.edu
