Leala is a Wild Blueberry Extension and Research Professional contributing to the research initiatives in Dr. Lily Calderwood’s laboratory. In this role, she develops outreach materials—including videos, publications, courses, and web content—to disseminate research findings from the University of Maine Wild Blueberry Research Team. Her work focuses on wild blueberry production strategies, pest and disease management, and production economics. A key aspect of her position involves engaging with farmers and the broader community to understand industry challenges and support sustainable solutions.
