Natural Resources - Marine

Extension expert in boat hauls up oysters; photo by Edwin Remsberg, USDAThe goal of Maine’s Marine Extension Team, a collaboration between University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Sea Grant, is to provide coastal communities and other stakeholders with scientific information and assistance. At the same time, the extension team ensures that researchers are aware of the most pressing issues facing the state. Information is transferred to and from citizens by extension associates who design and deliver local outreach programs. Through this process, communities gain the capacity to make informed decisions on the management of coastal and marine resources that promote ecological and economic sustainability.
