Washington County Extension invites public to annual meeting on May 11

Machias, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension is hosting an annual meeting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Washington County office, 116 O’Brien Avenue on the campus of the University of Maine Machias. Rain location is Kilburn Commons cafeteria.

The free, public event includes the annual meeting of the Washington County Extension Association where the Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award will be presented to an outstanding volunteer. The program highlight will feature members of the Cobscook Currents 4-H Club who will give a presentation about their trip to Houston to participate in the Lego First Championship. In addition, members from Oh Yea 4-H Grows True Leaders will discuss their time at the IGNITE Conference in Washington D.C.

The event will include a meal and showcase programs and services offered by Extension. Youth will enjoy a goat petting zoo and a nutrition activity. Attendees can pick up free seeds, tick spoons and soil tests while supplies last.
