UMaine Extension hosts native ornamental plant workshop at Bangor Public Library

Bangor, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Bangor Public Library are co-hosting a workshop on native plants from 3–4:30 p.m. on April 11 at the library, 145 Harlow Street.

This session will explore the rising interest in using native plants. Participants will discover why native plants matter and how gardeners can integrate them into their own spaces. Workshop instructor Kate Garland, horticulturist from UMaine Extension, will discuss the concept of ‘native,’ explore valuable resources for selecting the right plants for a site, and lead a virtual walk through a curated collection of native species to consider for any landscape.

Pre-registration for this free program is preferred on the event webpage. Registered participants will receive a follow-up email with relevant resources. If you need a reasonable accommodation, please contact Candis Joyce at candis.joyce@bangorpubliclibrary.org or (207) 947-8336. Receiving requests for accommodations at least 7 days before the program provides a reasonable amount of time to meet the request, however, all requests will be considered.
