Workshop on native plants and pollinators offered by UMaine Extension in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, Maine – University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Wild Seed Project will offer a Native Plants for Pollinators: Planting and Maintenance Workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m., October 17, 2026 at the UMaine Gardens at Tidewater Farm, 200 Presumpscot Point Rd. in Falmouth.

Native Plants for Pollinators: Planting and Maintenance, a hands-on workshop designed for home and community gardeners, will focus on incorporating native plants into vegetable gardens and using maintenance practices that support bees, butterflies, moths, solitary wasps, ground beetles and other beneficial insects. Participants will put these techniques into practice while helping expand a pollinator-friendly garden at Tidewater Farm. The workshop will take place outdoors, and participants should bring sunscreen, water and weather-appropriate clothing. If needed, Extension staff will determine a rain date and notify registrants.

The registration fee is $20 and advance registration is required by October 15, 2026. More information and registration are available on the program webpage. If reasonable accommodation is needed, please contact Pamela Hargest at 207.949.4524 or pamela.hargest@maine.edu.
