4-H Ecological Studies (4Est) SPIN Club

April 26, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

| Free
Small stream surrounded by grassy land, with several dead tree branches across it.

Did you know that YOU are a scientist and can contribute to the science community?!? This virtual 4-H citizen scientists club encourages youth to practice citizen science in their own backyard, with a variety of citizen science opportunities to consider, and report their observations while making connections with fellow citizen scientists in their community and around the state.  Along the way, we’ll learn about Maine ecology and how you can participate in research by just taking a picture.

Please note that the ability to get outside in between sessions and collect observations is a must. Participants must have access to a durable digital camera (a phone is fine), and guardian support for posting observations to the online platform. This workshop is supported by Maine EPSCoR at the University of Maine. Register by March 31st, so supplies can be mailed to attendees’ homes.

Who:  youth ages 12-18, limited to 12 participants.
Facilitated by Beth D., PhD Student & Sarah S., 4-H Science Professional

When: Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00, April 12 – May 17, 2023

Where: Join via Zoom. Materials will be provided and shipped directly to participants before the workshop.
