UMaine Extension Demonstration Site at Hurricane Valley Farm
17 Schuster Road, Falmouth, Maine
Cost: Free (registration is required)
Struggling with compacted soils? Interested in hand-scale approaches to improve soil health? Join us as we visit the UMaine Extension Demonstration Site at Hurricane Valley Farm to see strategies in action like deep-rooted cover crops, deep compost mulch, and permanent raised beds. We will tour the demonstration space, discuss tools and techniques, and share what we have learned in the first year of this project.
This workshop is part of the Maine Urban Soil Health Project, a UMaine Extension project to improve soil health education for Maine’s urban and small-scale agriculture community. The Hurricane Valley Farm demonstration site is managed in partnership with Cultivating Community, a Portland-based non-profit dedicated to farmland access and food justice.
This free event is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. Interpretation services are available upon request.
