The Maine State Pomological Society and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will hold a Summer Meeting and Orchard Tour at Ricker Hill Orchards in Turner, Maine on Wednesday, July 27 at 8:30 a.m. There will be presentations and demonstrations on farm safety, tall spindle plantings, cider making, and a cider tasting room. There will also be a panel discussion on the past and future of the Maine apple industry, updates on crop insurance and other topics. Directions
From the south: In Auburn/Lewiston travel on Route ME-4 for 12 miles. Turn left onto Route ME-117 (Buckfield Road) and travel 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Ricker Hill Road.
From the north: Take Exit 109B in Augusta onto Route US-202 West (Western Avenue). Travel about 7 miles to Winthrop and bear right onto Routes ME-41/ME-133. Travel 1.4 miles and bear left onto Route ME-133 West. Travel 5.9 miles then turn left onto Route ME-219 (Leeds Road). Travel 9.5 miles and turn left onto Route ME-4 (Auburn Road). Travel 5.2 miles and turn right onto Western Road. Travel 0.7 miles and turn right onto Ricker Hill Road.
