What is a hardy perennial grass that could be used as a natural privacy wall?

Question:

Looking for a hardy perennial grass that could be used as a natural privacy wall on my property line. The site gets about 60% sun, 40% shade. I have seen beautiful tall grasses but not sure what they are.

Are you hoping to maintain privacy all year round? If so, you might want to plant shrubs in this area. As for grasses, Sorghastrum nutans (Indian grass), many cultivars of Miscanthus sinensus, and cultivars of Panicum virgatum (Switch grass) should work fine for your site. Since most tall grasses prefer full sun, you’ll just want to be sure you find a cultivar that will thrive in part sun. I would consult with your local nursery about options.
