Thank you, in advance, for sending clear photos of as many of the following characteristics as possible. Including an item to help show scale, such as a penny or ruler, is very useful. Keep in mind that blurry or unclear photos are rarely helpful in the identification process.
Please include photos that contain the following items: Up-close flower, fruits or seed heads (as in grasses), leaf arrangement and shape, entire plant, and special characteristics.
Please follow these special photo instructions for grasses whenever possible.
Carefully remove a leaf from the stem and take a photo of the base of the leaf and a second photo of where that leaf was removed from the stem. We will also have better luck with identification with a clear, close-up image of the reproductive parts, or seed heads, showing how they are arranged on the stalk and images of any very close up parts of the seeds or floral structures themselves.
