Auburn Conservation Commission

Help assist the Auburn Conservation Commission with various on-going tasks surrounding the coordination of webinars, in person seminars and educational community events through out the year. This may include phone calls, e-mails and follow up with local city planners, community volunteers and local Boards and committees. Help mentor other community volunteers during events. Physical help planting, watering, weeding and maintaining Auburn’s Tree Nursery on N.Auburn River Rd. through out the growing season. Help with Auburn’s Promotion and outreach during “No Mow May” annual event. Help with promotion, and outreach of annual Arbor week activities. Assist with documentation, removal , public education of invasive species. This might include walk throughs of various open spaces, city owned lots, schools, trails and community gardens. This might also include walking tours of various trails or visiting public and private land. This might include assisting the local foresters, arborists and Horticulturalist with creation and maintaining Auburn’s open space index through G.I.S system. This might include assistance with tree identification and documentation in Auburn’s G.I.S City tree index (Visually checking on city trees, looking for tree health, approximate age of the tree, species, and if necessary coordination with Conservation commission and Forest Board on it’s replacement or removal). Assisting the conservation commission with new pollinator friendly gardens. Some work may be hands on, some work may only be with documentation, coordination, and behind the scenes e-mails, and phone calls.
