Our mission is: To inspire, encourage, and support residents of Berwick, Maine, and the surrounding communities to grow their food and share with others. To create a space where all community members can connect in a hands-on, peaceful, regenerative, inclusive, and respectful environment around the activity of growing their food. To educate community members about organic gardening, and the nutritional value of fresh produce, and strengthen bonds among community members through inclusive community activities. We need Master Gardener Volunteers to assist coordinating the general flow of gardening projects, i.e., helping gardeners troubleshoot issues in their plots, consulting if needed on planting, general care of plants and plots, overseeing any general composting questions, and being a point person in the garden. Our goal is to have one person each day of the week. The reason we wish to have Master Gardener Volunteers in this position is to ensure consistency of information being given to gardeners. MGVs might also be responsible for volunteers who as part of part of the garden community carry out a list of specific tasks such as: monitoring watering and mulching, diagnosing problems, making light repairs, responding to gardener concerns, helping reduce produce waste, and monitoring for pest or safety issues to oversee.
