The garden is 40×70 plus two 4×8 areas outside the fenced in garden area. All vegetable and flower seedlings are started in house. Preseason garden maintenance begins in April. This includes fertilize and light tilling. Planting of the seedlings begins as soon as Forsythia blooms. This is done in stages as the ground warms for the specific seedlings. You will learn how to interplant, succession and companion planting. Garden maintenance is done weekly through out the growing season. This includes fertilizing, minimal weeding. Harvest begins as soon as the veggies are ready and continues weekly thru October for the Maine Harvest for Hunger Program. As the harvest winds down clean up picks up to get the beds prepared for the winter. HOURS ARE FLEXIBLE
