Curtis Memorial Library Garden

Address: Middle Street, Brunswick, Maine

The Curtis Memorial Library has a demonstration and learning garden on their premises which are intended to be used for youth programs and serve as a therapeutic outdoor space. In recent years, these gardens have been renovated and brought back to life after a few years of neglect. The Children’s Garden was the first area to be renovated in 2021 and is now a certified Pollinator-Friendly Garden site with a variety of native plants. In 2022 MGVs worked to renovate the entrance gardens on Middle Street with native plantings as well as plants from the Currier McEwen collection of siberian irises and daylilies. In 2023, Master Gardener Volunteers extended the garden to outside of the children’s garden fence, making it more visible and welcoming to the community. In addition, volunteers have begun work to restore the library’s outdoor reading garden area and create an additional pollinator friendly area adjacent to the new St. Paul’s native plantings.
