New Gloucester Public Library Garden Project

The New Gloucester Public Library Garden Project started in 2022 with our first educational program on organic raised bed gardening for beginners where we constructed our first raised bed. Vegetables from the garden are shared with the community through the library sharing basket. In 2023, we constructed and planted a raised bed pollinator garden for children which will be used in coming years as part of an educational program. We also had several classes with younger children on starting plants from seed and planting them in the library gardens. The children read books on gardening in Storytime and painted rocks to decorate the pollinator beds. We will expand on thee educational aspect of the project in 2024 and work with children on a vegetable garden.
