Sanford Community Garden

This garden is an operation of the Mousam Way Land Trust that serves a number of residents of the Springvale and Sanford urban cores who lack garden space or funds to garden or both. Residents for towns surrounding Sanford also take advantage of being at the garden. Everything required for a successful harvest is provided without cost. In addition to beds for gardeners there are smaller beds for their children and grandchildren. Five beds are for growing produce for a food pantry. And another five are for children in Cooperative Extension?s Kids Can Grow Program. An ADA elevated bed section and a greenhouse are under construction. A new management team of land trust members who also are MG volunteers will be taking over management responsibilities which means those MG Volunteers who choose to help at this garden will have a deciding role in determining how the garden is run and what activities and educational programs should be offered.
