This program is available for teens of active military, including recent retirees less than 3 years and includes all branches of military and reserve.

The first several days will be spent on team building and learning and practicing wilderness tripping skills, following in the footsteps of the Registered Maine Guide. Each day will include canoeing, fishing, swimming, and skills that will prepare campers for a multi day backpack trip followed by a canoeing expedition.

We’ll depart midweek for a 2-day overnight backpacking trip along the Bold Coast Trail that traces some of the most northerly Maine coastline adjacent to the Canadian border. This moderate hike includes unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean and Maine wilderness. We’ll camp at one of the remote campsites along the coast, and we will continue the journey, returning to Greenland Point for a cookout and campfire to celebrate our first week together in the Maine wilderness.

On Friday we will begin preparing for our next adventure of canoeing the Down East Lakes Water Trail in the famous Grand Lake Stream region. This region is nationally acclaimed as

some of the most beautiful canoeing in the country and boasts some of the best native brook trout fishing available today. We will travel by canoe to a new remote site each day to set up camp where along the way, deer, moose, bald eagles, loons and other wildlife can be viewed. The tranquility of these remote stretches of lakes and streams historically have been paddled by some of the most famous Maine Guides and their earlier predecessors.

Each participant will have a chance to take a leadership role within the group and all will leave with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. To wrap up our final evening together we’ll enjoy a traditional Maine lobster bake complete with steamers and steaks on the grill. This program captures the spirit and the diversity of a Maine wilderness experience against the rugged coastline as well as the pristine waterways and backcountry.
