Virtual Field Trips to Maine Aquaculture Facilities
Free • Browser-Based • Interactive 360° • Lesson Plans Included • No Travel Required
What is a VFT?
A Virtual Field Trip (VFT) is an interactive learning experience that allows youth to explore places they may not otherwise be able to visit in person.

Instead of watching a video, learners can actively move through a space, click on tags, explore 360° environments, hear directly from experts, and engage with real-world people and places.
Our aquaculture VFTs help learners:
- Explore modern food production systems
- Understand aquaculture technologies and careers
- Build STEM skills through observation and inquiry
- Connect learning to real-world, place-based applications
- Discover how aquaculture supports Maine’s communities and food systems
These experiences are designed to foster learning, skill-building, and curiosity. By making agriculture and aquaculture education more accessible to all, we help learners explore future career pathways, understand where food comes from, and see themselves as part of the future of Maine’s food systems and Blue Economy.
