The UMS Career Prepared Micro-Credential is a structured, three-level program that guides you from exploration to real-world experience, equipping you with the practical skills and confidence employers seek.
Level 1: Discover and Connect
- Learn to navigate Career Center services and workshops
- Research industries, roles, and labor market trends
- Set up and optimize your campus job-board profile
Level 2: Plan and Act
- Develop a customized Career Action Plan outlining your goals, values and transferable skills
- Complete at least one targeted activity—like a workshop, informational interview or project that advances your plan
- Launch a focused job or internship search and reflect on what you’ve learned
Level 3: Experience and Validate
- Engage in a career-related internship, co-op or employment opportunity and earn positive feedback from your supervisor
- Demonstrate mastery of in-demand skills by earning the Education Design Lab 21st Century Skills badge
- Reflect on your progress through a structured self-evaluation
Upon completion, you’ll hold a micro-credential that signals to employers your commitment to continuous development, proven skills, and readiness to contribute from day one.
