University of Maine Rogers Forage & Crops Research Farm

Mark your calendars for the University of Maine’s annual Rogers Farm research tour on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 (rain date July 11). UMaine agricultural researchers from Cooperative Extension and the School of Food and Agriculture will discuss production methods and present their research on a variety of crops.
This event is free and pre-registration is not required.
2 pesticide certification credits and 2.5 certified crop advisor credits will be offered.
Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., and the event will run from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
Topics for this year’s event will include:
- Interseeding cover crops into late-season vegetables to promote soil health
- Overwintering legume cover crops
Jason Lilley (Extension Sustainable Ag Educator) and Gladys Adu Asieduwaa (Graduate Student) - Performance and nutritive value of forage legumes in Maine
Jaime Garzon (Extension Dairy Forage Educator) - New potato varieties for Maine growers
Brett Johnson (Extension Sustainable Ag and Horticulture Professional) - Integrated pest management (IPM) for potatoes
Jim Dill (Extension Pest Management Specialist and Direction of the Diagnostic and Research Laboratory) - Organic small grain production and variety selection
Tom Molloy (Extension Sustainable Ag Professional) - Organic dry beans: varieties and no-till production methods

The UMaine Rogers Forage & Crop Research Farm is part of the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station at the state’s R1 public research university.
DIRECTIONS: The UMaine Rogers Farm address is 914 Bennoch Rd, Old Town, ME. It is located on Rt. 16, 1.5 miles north of Stillwater. Take exit 193 off I-95 and head east toward Old Town on Stillwater Ave. At the third set of lights, turn left onto Bennoch Rd. (Rt. 16). Rogers Farm is 1.5 miles north on Bennoch Rd.
