Landscaping for People and Pollinators Workshops
University of Maine Cooperative Extension invites all gardeners to attend “Landscaping For People and Pollinators,” a day-long program to learn how to have beautiful gardens that are safe and productive for you and nature, are being held throughout the state of Maine at many locations. Each workshop begins with check-in at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Gardeners should bring a lunch; beverages will be provided. The fee of $10 covers printed handouts and workshop materials. “This workshop is for gardeners who are interested in learning more about what pollinators are, why they are important and what gardeners can include in their home landscape to encourage these valuable insects,” says Kate Garland, Penobscot County Extension Horticulturist.
Kathy Hopkins, Somerset County Extension Educator says that two-thirds of the world’s crops rely on pollination from bees, insects, birds and others to reproduce. Come learn how to manage your landscape to enhance the habitat for our pollinators to support productive crops.
