Pressure Gauge Testing
September 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., Laurie Bowen, Community Education Assistant (Food System Aide) with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will be at the Piscataquis Extension Office to test Presto Gauges. You can drop your gauges off at the office any time before or on September 4th.
Check dial gauges for accuracy before use each year. Gauges that read high cause under-processing and may result in unsafe food. Low readings cause over-processing. Pressure adjustments can be made if the gauge reads up to 2 pounds high or low. Replace gauges that differ by more than 2 pounds.
